All of my pottery is functional, hand built and made with both high fire stoneware and high fire glazes. My glazes are lead free and completely food safe. They are also all "mottled" so they lend a unique patterned effect to all my pieces.
Stoneware is extremely durable because of the high temperature at which it is fired and because of a "grog" that is mixed into the clay. Depending on the piece, the clay bodies will have either a golden brown or dark red finish. And because each piece is hand made and fired twice, there are variations in the finished colors, both in the clay body and the glazes. Hand made pottery is an art, not a science... and around here we pray to the pottery god most every week.
Shipping pottery is a nightmare! Due to the nature of pottery, and the size and shape of some of my pieces, not all of my work is available through this site at this time. However, I try to bring a good selection of all my work to each of my shows.
